Schemadex
I am working on releasing a public demo of Schemadex as soon as possible. Schemadex is a product that I have very ambitious
plans for and a lot of investment is being made so that it will start with the right footing.
Until a release is available, you can watch my interview with Lloyd Chumbley of ACORD from the October '07 Standards Forum.
An Introduction to Schemadex
The XML schemas for the ACORD standards are difficult to work with. Our new schema management application known as Schemadex makes it easy.
I've worked on ACORD standards for just over 10 years now. One thing no one outside
the industry seems to realize is just how complex the insurance standards are. They
are complex, of course, because the business that drives them is complex. That is
why generic schema tools built without understanding the complexity of the insurance
standards fail to cut through it.
If you are starting or managing an ACORD XML standard implementation (PCS 1.x, Life, or AML) you need to take a look at Schemadex. Our static XPAC Help System has made working with the PCS 1.x standard easier for over 275 registered users. Schemadex takes what has been done in our help system and injects it with real power. It is a fully interactive desktop application. It works with any XML schema, but specifically recognizes the design patterns, terminology, and extension models used by the ACORD XML schemas.
A brief list of features:
- Powerful interactive navigation and search
- Custom version-independent notes on schema items
- Create custom views (also called slices or subsets) of the schema. Limit messages, elements, and codes.
- Add company unique extensions and manage separate extension sets for use with multiple implementations.
- Generate schemas based on custom views and extensions either optimized for production validation or with embedded documentation.
- Produce standalone help file documentation for portability and sharing with trading partners.
Upcoming Events
I will be attending the ACORD/LOMA Insurance Systems Forum and would be happy to demonstrate the latest version of Schemadex which includes support for Service Provider Extensions (SPX) for the ACORD 1.x PCS XML standard.
More information coming soon
Look for more information regarding Schemadex and its set of features in the upcoming weeks.
